We woke up Wednesday morning, had breakfast and headed to the boat. Francisco told us we were headed to Devil's Throat for our first dive. It was going to be a deep one, down to 120ft. Rick and Randy had been to 145ft before, but Fred had never been past 100ft. There was a mother and her two teenage sons on the boat with us.
At the dive site we all dropped in and proceeded to the bottom, then into a narrow cave opening and through a tunnel. We exited the tunnel on a wall, at 120ft. Then we continued along the reef, making our way through some more tunnels, gradually ascending. We saw some bait balls in some of the caves, glistening in the sunlight.
After an hour on the surface, we headed to Las Palmas. This dive was a flatter and more wide open, but had some interesting marine life. Rick found a couple of trunkfish to play with, they're his favorite fish. Since we were headed to Chichen-itza the next day, this was out last dive.
Back at the resort we relaxed for the afternoon up on the deck outside Fred and Katie's room. We read a bunch of magazines, looking for design ideas for our new house. After the sun had set we headed to the restaurant for dinner, served with the requisite Piña Coladas and Marguerites. We finished watching The Incredibles before falling asleep.
