Waking up this morning we had breakfast and finished packing up al of our gear. The boat arrived in Ensenada around 1pm, where we took a group photo and then said goodbye to the crew and boarded the motor coach. The drive back was smooth, then we arrived at the border. The national 'threat level' had just been raised to Crimson Orange Omega, so, of course, that meant that we had to wait in line for two hours. Fortunately we didn't have to lug all of our gear several blocks like the bus driver said we would, but the whole border thing was still a mess.

At the Hampton Inn we said goodbye to everyone and then took a cab over to the W Hotel (Yay!) We had a nice hot shower and then met our friends Maia and Kevin in the lobby for drinks and dinner. It turned out that they had booked a room in the hotel for the night which was great. We had a fun dinner at Open Sea and then had a few drinks at "The Beach", the bar at the W. It was definitely the place to 'be seen' on a Friday night, pretty crazy.

We had breakfast with Maia and Kevin and their two kids (we picked them up from home on the way). Then we went back to their house where we met Maia's Mom (Rick had known Maia for years but had never met her). They dropped us at the airport at noon, where we boarded our flight home.

    Epilogue

Sharks! Sharks! Sharks! What a great trip!

We both had an amazing time and really want to thank Norb, Eric and Lawrence for making it all happen. We're sure we'll travel with them again sometime, and we're really looking forward to it!

Note: Rick never did see any penguins. Oh well.
