We arrived at the island at around 10am. The weather was cool with some fog that was breaking up, it felt like a summer morning in San Francisco. The divers were divided into 2 teams of 8, with each team being divided between the two cages hanging off the back of the boat. John and Kelly were our cage-mates (they were great!). We jumped in the water for half an hour to familiarize ourselves with things. We didn't see any sharks, but it was still exciting!

On our second dive we were in for an hour. Still no sharks, but we spent lots of time going back and forth around the cage looking for them. After lunch there was a bunch of commotion: a shark was spotted. We jumped in the cage and saw it almost immediately! It was about 14 feet long and really amazing to watch. The cages were very sturdy and secure, it made the whole experience feel very safe. (Rick, of course, was hoping to see penguins at some point)

On our fourth dive we didn't see any sharks, oh well. We had an awesome dinner and talked with the other divers before heading to bed.
