After breakfast things were quiet on the dive deck so we decided to take a panga ride to check out the island. Geronimo drove the panga and took us along the shore where we saw sea lions, Guadalupe fur seals, elephant seals and sea gulls. As we arrived back at the boat we found out that they hadn't seen any sharks yet, so we hadn't missed anything.

We had only been back a short time when a shark was spotted. We suited up and jumped in the water and watched him swim around stalking the bait on the line off the back of the boat. He was about 15 feet long!

  • Where's that Shark?

We ended up going in the water three times and saw sharks on all three dives! At dinner one of the researchers from the other boat at the island came on board. They tag the white sharks and track their movements to learn more about them. He had a database of images on his computer and was able to use it to identify the shark we saw yesterday as "Curley".
