At Sea
Saw some killer whales at Shag island (it was lucky we got to see the island at all, normally we would have passed it during the night). Did the “desk” recording for PNN’s Cooper Anderson.

March 5
At Sea
Saw a big pod of porpoises and then some hour glass dolphins that rode the ship’s bow wave for 20 minutes or so. At the evening wrap-up we got to show PNN to the whole ship. Everyone loved it! We even got a round of applause when we walked into the dining room for dinner. Lots of fun!

March 6
At Sea
An uneventful, somewhat rocking, day at sea. In the evening we arrived in the Falklands where we anchored in a protected harbor and saw a really colorful sunset.

March 7
Port Stanley, Falkland Islands
We docked in Port Stanley and were able to walk right off the boat into town. Walked around town a bit, did some penguin shopping, Randy got a haircut, then walked to the Malvina House Hotel where we had a very tasty and relaxing lunch.

March 8
Falkland Islands
Started the morning anchored off of Carcass Island. We went ashore by zodiac and walked around seeing magellanic penguins, some sheep and ducks, along with a bunch of Johnny Rook birds, which basically annoy everything. Then during lunch we moved to New Island where we went ashore to see a colony of Rockhopper Penguins (our 11th species!). Back onboard we had been asked to show the videos we had been working on along with some of our movies from Africa and Iceland. We were pleasantly surprised to see pretty much the whole ship come to the lounge to see our footage and images, and hear us talk a bit about how we shoot our movies and photos. Had dinner with Stef & Jon and Stacey and Rande.

March 9, 2015
At Sea / Ushuaia
Were treated to a pair of killer whales killing and eating a seal just before lunch. We were told that it’s very rare to get experience that! Had a great last dinner with Stef & Jon, Paul & Robyn, and Rande and Stacey. Arrived into Ushuaia around 8:30. Went ashore, wandered around in the rain for a bit before finally locating a bar for a nightcap. Walked/ran back to the ship for another drink in the lounge with some of the other passengers before bed.

March 10
Ushuaia / Heading Home
Woke up at 6am for breakfast, disembarked the ship at 8am. Around 11am we headed to the airport for our flight back to Buenos Aires. Breezed through the airport (unlike our last time!) and headed to the lounge to relax before our 10pm flight to Dallas. Slept most of the flight, 3 hours in Dallas, then our final flight to SFO. All in all it was about 36 hours to get home.
