Garcia Bay & Prospect Point
Woke up to warm sunlight shining across Garcia Bay, lots of small icebergs and brash ice all around. Did a zodiac cruise where we saw adelie penguins, seals and lots of ice. In the afternoon we sailed by Prospect Point where we were very lucky to find some “fast” ice (it’s held fast to the shore) that the captain could “crash” the ship into and through. We then got to walk around on the sea ice and have a barbecue! It was very late in the season to find sea ice, we were very lucky!

Neko Harbour and Port Lockroy
In the morning we went ashore at Neko Harbor. There was a large gentoo colony along with a large glacier face just across the bay (we even saw some calving ice while we were there). Rick spent some time interviewing some of the penguins for PNN (Penguin News Network), with one especially cute baby penguin. In the afternoon we went ashore at Port Lockroy where we mailed some post cards and bought some penguin paraphernalia. After dinner we went up to the top deck with John and Steph while most of the passengers had a party in the lounge with some of the staff of Port Lockroy who had come aboard for the evening.

Ciervo Cove
Sailed to Ciervo cove where we did a zodiac tour followed by a cruise around the harbor looking at all of the glaciers that feed into it. Got to see some chunks of clear and dark ice floating amongst the brash ice. Then we set sail north.
