Portugal with Julia

Had breakfast at the hotel, then at 9:15 we walked over to Livraria Lello, a bookstore with a cool staircase that is a total tourist destination. Over 2000 people get tickets and stand in line to wander around inside the interior, originally opened in 1869.

Walked down the hill and over the top of the Ponte Luís, then down to the water and along the waterfront. Walked back through some narrow streets, then over to the aerial gondola. Took that to the top, then (accidentally) snuck onto a train back across the bridge and back to the hotel.

Walked a couple of blocks to Eleven Lab, an interesting café inside a clothing store. Had a tasty lunch, then went back to the hotel to transfer photos and then relax. At 5pm we walked over to the Clérigos Church where we climbed to the top of the tower.

Wandered around a part for a bit, then headed back to the main part of the church for a fun 3D light show. Walked over to By the Wine, the sister restaurant to the one in Lisbon. Had a nice tapas dinner with some wine, then headed back to the hotel for an episode of Parks and Recreation before bed.

Woke up at 5am, left the hotel at 6. Drove to the Porto airport, checked in, headed to the lounge. About an hour later we boarded our flight to Madrid. Once there we said goodbye to Julia; she was spending a few nights with a friend before heading home and we were headed to the UK for 5 weeks. Such a fun week and so great to get to spend the time with Julia!
