Oregon Coast 2024

Got up before dawn, still being on East Coast time helped. Had breakfast, packed up the car, headed to Antioch. Penguin Express was all nice and clean inside. Thanked the staff for their help with "the incident". Drove north to Safeway in Fairfield for supplies. Continued north, coach drives really nicely with the recent suspension upgrades! Stoped for lunch and a call to Randy's Mom. Continued north, arrived at the Southern Oregon RV Park in Medford just before 5pm. Had dinner, then bedtime.

Had coffee at 6am, packed up camp at 7am, then drove over to Grant's Pass about half an hour away. Parked at the YMCA, expanded the RV. Rick went inside to swim, Randy did a Zoom workout with our trainer Mickey. Afterwards we headed north. About an hour before Eugene we started seeing broken trees and downed power lines all over the place; there had been a big ice and wind storm the weekend before. Headed West towards the coast, the destruction continued all the way. Picked up a car at Enterprise in Newport, then headed to Pacific Shores Motorcoach Resort where we stayed the year before. Had a great oceanfront site, however the wind was howling and already tugging at the topper on the big slide-out. Found a much more sheltered site at the back of the site, much better! Went to the clubhouse to sit in the sauna for a bit, then back to the RV for more House of Usher.

We watched the high winds toss the trees and flags around most of the day, we were very sheltered. Around 6pm we drove in to town for dinner at Clearwater. Just as tasty as always. Then it was back to the RV for some TV and bed. The winds had changed directions and picked up so we pulled in the big slide. The RV shook a bit from time to time in the wind but we both slept quite well.
