Swiss Trains

Had breakfast, packed our bags, then dropped them at the front desk. Walked over to the train station and boarded a train to Bern (we were taking two trains with a connection due to track issues due to heavy rains in the preceding weeks). There was a mechanical issue which delayed our departure; meant we'd miss our next train. Figured out a later train which we took from Bern at noon. Arrived in Lucerne at 1, walked 8 minutes to our hotel, The Schweizerhoff. Checked in and met our guide (which had been waiting for us since 12:30). Did a shortened tour, learned some fun facts about Lucerne and bought some tasty chocolate.

Afterwards we went back to the hotel and had them make us a dinner reservation for Raclette. Decided to eat early at 5 p.m. Walked over to Restaurant Fritschi. Had a table in the back with lots of dark wood and carvings around us. Tasty cheese dinner with some wine, then headed back to the hotel. It started raining which gave Rick the idea to walk over to a carnival on the opposite side of the lake. We wandered around for a while with Rick getting some great reflections shots. Then it was back to the hotel for bed.

Woke up early, breakfast at 7:30. At 8:30 we were picked up and taken to the Zurich airport. Checked in, then spent a couple of hours in the lounge before heading to our gate. Took a bus out to an A220 where we had seats in the single row of business class. Had a really cute flight attendant who made sure our wine glasses stayed full. Landed at Schipol, collected bags, then took a cab to our Airbnb in the De Pijp neighborhood. It was a cute modern place in great condition. Went to the Aldi grocery store downstairs, then met up with our friends Jordan & Christena who had come over from Berlin. Checked out the Albert Heinj grocery store down the street (much nicer!), then walked around and over to J&C's hotel to drop them off. Walked back to our apartment.
