San Franscisco Loft

At our loft a digital projector is mounted on top of the heating unit on one wall, projecting across the room to the wall above the couch. The images are about 6 feet off the ground, preventing the projector from shining into anyone's eyes.

The projector is an Optoma DLP unit, with a resolution of 1024x768. The computer driving it is a PowerMac G4 cube, which can be seen on a small shelf to the right of the heating unit. The computer is also connected to the main audio amplifier (under the TV) with a direct digital connection through the USB port on the computer. This serves as our MP3 jukebox. 100GB holds a lot of music!

Below is an image at night. The 1600 lumen output of the projector does a good job of projecting images. We have photographs, a view of the earth from space (with real-time weather), and various 'visualizer' plug-ins from iTunes that can be displayed.

Many times people have to look around to figure out where the images are being projected from since the projector blends in so well.
